Masayuki Matsumoto's solo exhibition "alternative" will be held
At VALIANT GALLERY until May 6th
From Saturday, April 19th to Tuesday, May 6th, VALIANT GALLERY in Imaizumi, Fukuoka will be holding a solo exhibition "alternative" by contemporary artist Matsumoto Masayuki.
In this exhibition, we will be presenting new works with the theme of alternative. Abstract paintings represent images, landscapes represent windows, portraits represent photographs. For investment purposes, they can serve as a substitute for currency. Paintings have a strong aspect of being a substitute for something.
This may not just be true of painting but of expression in general, but painting has a particularly strong aspect of becoming "something" that is needed in the moment.
This exhibition is my expression of "something" that is needed in the world right now. I would be delighted if you could come and see the original drawings.

Artist Profile
Masayuki Matsumoto (Instagram @m.saneyuki )
He mainly produces works that use deformed expressions that follow the trends of subculture and 1950s pop art.
He creates works that depict pop culture characters and other elements in the form of art rather than illustration.
All the portraits are painted with the same face.
This is based on the idea that "by depicting the same, unified face, the viewer can relate to the work and relate to it."
