Artist Profile
PUTOS -Yoka Paint- (Instagram @yokapaint )
PUTOS is a street art artist born in Melbourne, Australia.
He was based in Australia, but moved to Los Angeles in the US due to an increase in requests from overseas.
After that, he participated in mural paintings and exhibitions in various parts of Europe, gained fame, and returned to his hometown of Melbourne. His wife HIRO was styling models in the fashion industry in Melbourne at the time, but in 2019 they decided to move to Japan together and pursue art. They founded Yoka Paint in HIRO's hometown of Fukuoka and started their business.
During his 24 years of experience in street art, he has been involved in projects with the government, such as tourism, art production to support reconstruction, and depopulated town development. He transforms what is needed into art, creating things that inspire people and that can be felt by people who happen to see the wall while walking by, and continues to evolve along with history.
He pursues the various issues faced by people, places, things, and the times, and creates works based on the theme of the value that arises from empathy and harmony.
Next year, 2025, he will return to Australia for the first time in six years. We are looking forward to his mural creations, which will decorate Australian cities with a variety of art, utilizing the sensibilities he has cultivated in Japan.
