At VALIANT GALLERY until February 2nd

From Saturday, January 18th to Sunday, February 2nd, illustrator isayamax's solo exhibition "CHARA HEAD-CHARA" will be held at VALIANT GALLERY in Imaizumi, Fukuoka.

With the new year upon us, the idea is to clear our minds of all the good and bad things and to take on new challenges. The exhibition also expresses the fact that the artist has been fascinated by characters such as Dragon Ball and Bikkuriman since childhood and has always drawn only characters, so "his head is full of characters."
Look forward to a world filled with characters and fluffy creatures, different from last year's solo exhibition.

In addition to paintings, we also plan to sell popular apparel goods and hold events.
Everyone please come and have fun with a fresh mind.

Artist Profile

isayamax (Instagram @isayamaxx )

Born in Fukuoka in 1982, after graduating from a design college, he worked as a designer and illustrator for about eight years before going independent in 2013.
He has worked on a variety of illustrations, including collaborations with new balance, PAUL&JOE, AKB48, and Yoshimoto comedians.
After Instagram was launched in 2015, he started posting original illustrations, and held solo exhibitions in Harajuku, Tokyo and Umeda, Osaka in 2019. In 2021, he entered the world of contemporary art at "ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2021".
In January 2024, he held his solo exhibition "GIN-GIRA-GIN" at VALIANT GALLERY, which was well received.

Isayamax's works are influenced by the 90s counterculture in which he spent his youth, as well as the era and culture of the 70s, which are his roots.
Kawaii culture, which originated in girls' manga and Sanrio in the 1970s and is closely related to bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) and illustrations, has passed through Shibuya gal and Harajuku Decora in the 1990s, and is now connected to modern social media and various pop cultures.
The context of domestic kawaii culture is consistently expressed in the present day using illustration techniques.
