This cactus is native to northwestern Chile. In recent years, it has been restricted by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and as such is extremely rare and rarely distributed in Japan.
Among them, Kuroomaru is a particularly popular variety. It grows very slowly and takes a long time to mature.
■ Location
Keep in a sunny, well-ventilated place throughout the year. It is vulnerable to exposure to rain and high humidity. A difference in temperature between day and night will help it to maintain a good shape.
■Temperature control
Since it is sensitive to the cold, please switch to indoor management when the temperature drops below 10°C.
■Watering
During the growing season from spring to autumn, water thoroughly when the soil is dry. In winter, reduce watering and keep the soil on the drier side.
