Agave titanota oteroi
A succulent plant of the Agave family native to Mexico, Central and South America, and North America.
Its thick, wide leaves and rough, sawtooth-like sharp thorns are attractive, giving it a rugged yet somehow stylish appearance.
In recent years, rare varieties and well-shaped varieties (beautiful ball types) have become very popular among fruit enthusiasts in East Asia and other areas.
■Location for care
Growth period (spring and autumn): A sunny, well-ventilated location.
Summer: Avoid direct sunlight and keep in a well-ventilated, semi-shaded area.
Winter: Store in a sunny room with a minimum temperature of 5°C or higher.
■Temperature management
Ideally, keep it between 10°C and 25°C.
If the minimum temperature drops below 5°C, bring the plant indoors and keep it in a heated place.
In summer, keep out of direct sunlight and in a well-ventilated place.
■Watering
Be careful not to overwater. This plant is drought-tolerant, so water it only after the soil has dried thoroughly.
In winter, the plant goes into a dormant period, so reduce watering and keep it on the dry side.
■Soil and fertilizer
Please use potting soil for succulents and cacti that has good breathability and drainage.
It is recommended to apply slow-release chemical fertilizer about once every two months during the growing season from spring to autumn. It is also effective to apply liquid fertilizer about once every two weeks instead of watering.
Growth slows in winter, so do not fertilize.
