Astrophytum myriostigma "Kouyou"

A type of Ranpo cactus, it is characterized by its leaves turning red in cold weather. The autumn leaf cactus is hardy, easy to grow, and highly collectible.
The leaf color changes slightly with the seasons, and the distinctive ribs and patterns give it a different look every time you look at it, making it a delight to watch.

■ Care location <br>It prefers a sunny location. In particular, avoid direct sunlight in midsummer and use shade measures such as lace curtains or cheesecloth. In winter, it should be kept indoors where the temperature can be maintained above 5°C, and as it goes into a dormant state, watering is generally not necessary. Keep it in a well-ventilated place and be careful not to let it get too humid.

■Temperature control <br>Optimum temperature for growth: 25 to 35°C during the day and around 20°C at night.
Wintering: If the minimum temperature is below 5°C, keep indoors.

■Watering <br>The basic rule is to water generously after the soil has dried, until water starts to flow out from the bottom of the pot. However, be careful not to water too much, as this can cause root rot and the stem to grow too long. Spring and autumn are the growing seasons, so water generously when the surface of the soil dries, water sparingly in summer, and withhold water in winter as the plant goes into a dormant period.

■Soil and fertilizer <br>Please use potting soil for succulents and cacti that has good breathability and drainage.
Fertilizer is generally not necessary. The fertilizer contained in the soil when repotting is sufficient. During the growing season from spring to autumn, you can give the plant diluted liquid fertilizer about once a month, but excessive fertilization is prohibited. In particular, do not give fertilizer in winter, when watering should be kept to a minimum.
