Echinocactus golden carp

Echinocactus grusonii

This spherical cactus with beautiful golden spines is native to Mexico. It can grow to a height of over 1 meter and has a lifespan of about 30 years. Mature plants sometimes bloom with yellow flowers at the top.
Its round shape and dense golden spines give it the air of a classic cactus, making it a striking addition to any interior decor.

■Location for care <br>The Golden Shachi prefers sunlight, so it should be kept in a sunny location throughout the year. It is ideal to keep it outdoors in a sunny location, especially during the growing season from spring to early autumn. In winter, to avoid frost and freezing, it should be kept indoors or covered with agricultural plastic.

■Temperature control <br>Optimum growth temperature: 20℃ to 38℃ is ideal.
Winter care: Maintain a minimum temperature of 5°C. If there is a risk of frost or freezing, move the plant indoors or cover it with plastic to protect it.
Summer care: In midsummer, avoid direct sunlight and keep in a well-ventilated place. If necessary, shade with cheesecloth or similar.

■Watering <br>The basic rule for watering is to let the soil dry out completely, and then water thoroughly until water starts to flow out from the bottom of the pot. Growth slows in midsummer and winter, so water sparingly about twice a month, just enough to lightly moisten the soil. During the growing seasons in spring and autumn, water about once every 10 days, until water starts to flow out from the bottom of the pot.

■Soil and fertilizer <br>Please use potting soil for succulents and cacti that has good breathability and drainage.
Among cacti, this plant does not require much fertilizer. During the growing season in spring and autumn, a small amount of slow-release fertilizer for cacti is sufficient.
